The atmosphere in Erigavo town, located in the Sanaag region, is currently fraught with tension following the unfortunate incident this morning where a guy who was in the process of evacuating his family from the city was fatally shot. The shooting was carried out by a military adherent of the “Somaliland” militia at a location where the vehicle was passing.
According to the accounts, the shooting caused injuries to the deceased man’s wife.
Over the past three days, numerous families, including women and children, have been fleeing the city of Erigavo. Tensions are running high between supporters of the SSC-Khatumo administration and the “Somaliland” administration.
Negotiations to restore calm to the city over the past 48 hours proved fruitless. Both factions are mobilizing and recruiting troops to defend the city.
